El estilo cognitivo es un tema de interés para comprender las diferencias indi-viduales que se dan en el proceso de enseñanza–aprendizaje. Dichas diferen-cias no han sido muy estudiadas en la población sorda. El presente artículo describe el estilo cognitivo en un grupo de estudiantes sordos. La muestra está conformada por cuarenta estudiantes, veinte sordos y veinte oyentes. El estilo cognitivo que se identificó fue el de la dimensión dependencia–independencia de campo (DIC). El instrumento que se aplicó fue el Test de Figuras Enmascara-das (EFT). Los resultados se organizaron para describir las siguientes relaciones: estilo cognitivo–condición auditiva del estudiante, estilo cognitivo–modalidad comunicativa y educativa, estilo cognitivo y condición auditiva de los padres y estilo cognitivo–sexo
Abstract
Cognitive style is a topic of interest for understanding individual differences that exist in the teaching-learning process. These differences have not been studied in the deaf population. This article describes the cognitive style in deaf students. The sample consisted of 40 students, 20 are deaf subjects and 20 are hearing subjects. The identified cognitive style was Field Dependence and Independen-ce (FDI). The instrument used was EFT (Embedded Figures Test). The results were organized to describe the following relationships: cognitive style and hearing student’ condition, cognitive style and communicative and educational moda-lity, cognitive style and hearing parents’ condition, and cognitive style and sex
