Abstract
It is commonly thought that sport is a high expression of game. This paper aims to question this idea, in a plausible rather than conclusive way. The purpose is to open a discussion, questioning the stale dogma with the intention of promoting reflection about sport. An analogy between game-sports versus dating-marriage will be used as an argu-mentative mechanism. According to Sponville (2003), an analogy is about “a way think the unthinkable, or may it appear so” (p. 47). For this reason, it does not work as an evidence. Thanks to its own correlations, an analogy may reveal contradictions in the common statement and show thought-provoking findings. Sport and marriage, more than a high expression of game and dating, mean their extinction. There are so many chan-ges, that game and dating disappear to break ground to their executioner. Curiously, there is a transition from one to the other, certain that it is the best development for an obvious state of fruition. Based on this false statement, there will be surprises. Among other factors, media have been responsible for naturalizing these contradictions disguising them with questionable features.
